About Cyndi

Art therapy isn’t about creating a masterpiece—it’s about exploring the process of making art while reflecting on meaningful questions. Whether you see yourself as an artist, feel “non-creative,” or somewhere in between, art therapy is for anyone willing to give it a try. Stick figures are welcome, and there’s no need for straight lines or perfect drawings.

Cyndi knows firsthand the transformative power of creativity and is passionate about sharing it with others.

She works with adults and children aged 6 and older, bringing a strengths-based and humanistic approach to therapy. Cyndi believes that everyone has a unique story and tailors her approach to each client’s needs and goals. She recognizes the importance of intersecting identities and collaborates with clients to create personalized treatment plans. When working with children, she views them as part of a broader family system and may invite caregivers to participate in some sessions to share skills and insights.

Cyndi’s Journey

A lifelong artist, Cyndi was living her dream of creating and selling her own art when, at 36, she faced a life-changing breast cancer diagnosis. During her recovery, she discovered how integral art was to her healing process and decided to pursue a new path. She earned a Master’s-level diploma in Art Psychotherapy and is now a registered member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

Born in Bruce County and raised between Canada and the UK, Cyndi has found her home in Port Elgin. While pottery and ceramics were her first artistic loves, she now enjoys exploring fibre arts like knitting, embroidery, and punch needle. An avid animal lover, she spends her summers befriending the squirrels and chipmunks in her yard. Her happy place? A cat purring in her lap.

What to Expect

Cyndi offers both virtual and in-person sessions, recognizing the value of flexibility in staying connected.

Intake Session (50 minutes)
In your first session, you’ll review your personal history, address consent and privacy concerns, and try an art activity designed to help with goal setting. If you and Cyndi agree that art therapy aligns with your goals, you’ll commit to an initial series of eight sessions to build a productive therapeutic relationship. Caregivers or supportive adults may be invited to attend part of the intake session if appropriate.

Art Psychotherapy Sessions (50 minutes)
During these sessions, Cyndi will guide you in using art materials and creative processes to reflect on and address your goals. She’ll come prepared with art invitations tailored to your needs, but your feedback will always shape the direction of the work.

Caregiver Conference (30 minutes)
For younger clients, Cyndi offers dedicated caregiver conferences to discuss progress, share updates, and address concerns without taking time away from the client’s therapy sessions. These meetings can be virtual, in person, or over the phone.

If you’re curious about art therapy, Cyndi encourages you to take the first step. No experience is necessary—just a willingness to explore.
