Janet Sheldon
Registered Psychotherapist
“Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you
doesn’t mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.”
Lisa Olivera
Janet Sheldon is a registered psychotherapist offering individual therapy services to adolescents 12 years and older, and adults of all ages. It’s her goal and desire to support people who are experiencing mental health challenges and concerns. Janet is a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).
Janet’s aim is to nurture a space where you feel safe, valued, and heard so you can feel free to explore how you are feeling stuck and find peace as you move forward. She uses a strength-based approach to therapy, focused on helping you develop effective coping strategies to foster a sense of hope and calm in your life. It’s important to Janet to build a positive relationship with you and to use evidence-based therapy approaches to help meet your unique needs.
Janet has received specialized training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, and trauma therapy. She is an EMDR certified therapist. EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a powerful, unique type of therapy designed to help people heal from the emotional distress caused by difficult or traumatic life experiences. EMDR therapy helps your brain process and let go of painful memories and feelings that might be causing you problems.
