Reflexology

This service is offered at Maple Shores Health Centre by Sharon Humphries.

What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a natural therapeutic method that is based on the principle that there are reflexes in the body correspond to other parts, glands, or organs of the body. Through the application of pressure on these reflexes, using specific hand and finger techniques, reflexology therapy can relieve tension, support the body’s efforts to function optimally, and improve circulation.

What are the benefits of Reflexology?
Reflexology can address anything from headaches to sinus problems to stomach issues. If sensitivity or tenderness is experienced when an area is stimulated, it usually indicates structural weaknesses or imbalances within the corresponding organ, gland, or body part.

With repeated pressure and manipulation of nerve endings, reflexology can help to clear channels of blocked energy through the movement of the flow of blood, nutrients, and nerve impulses. This ultimately improves overall health and well-being.

Additional benefits of reflexology include but are not limited to cleansing the body of toxins, boosting the immune system, increasing circulation, promote healing, and balancing energy.

Is Reflexology safe?
Generally, reflexology is very safe, even for people living with serious health conditions. This service is non-invasive and comfortable to receive. However, if you have the following conditions, please consult your physician: circulatory problems in the feet, blood clots or inflammation of your leg veins, gout, foot ulcers, fungal infections, open wounds, thyroid problems, epilepsy, bruise or bleed easily, or are pregnant.
