For the past several years, my family has participated in the farm share provided by Persephone Market Garden. It is a great way to receive high quality produce that is grown locally without any chemical pesticides. From May until October, we have enjoyed receiving a weekly delivery of freshly grown vegetables and herbs (and sometimes fruit too). Persephone Market Garden runs on the Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) model, where participants pay for the produce in 3 installments throughout the year (on signing up, in June and again in September). This helps the farmers have some reliable income to help them throughout the growing season. Each week, we enjoyed receiving a newsletter with recipes for that weeks food. I have just signed up for the 2015 season. Have a look at their website for more information and to sign up.
I love this article that was sent to me by our psychotherapist, Catharine Crawford! It talks about the importance of "play" to our sense of wellbeing. In order to be happy, we have to have fun in our lives and connect with others. It is easy to worry too much about being productive, busy and efficient, and forget about doing something just for the sake of enjoyment. Having 3 young children, I have the opportunity to play with them every day, but I often get frustrated that it stops me from "getting things done" - this article reminded me about how much I can learn from watching them. Click this link and let me know what you think. Be sure to watch the video - it warmed my heart:)

These snacks taste great and are full of protein and healthy fat. They are so good, my son calls them “Healthy Timbits”!
Grind each of the following separately in a coffee grinder or food processor:
½ cup flax seed
½ cup sunflower seed
½ cup pumpkin seed
1 cup hemp hearts
1 cup cocoa
1 cup dried cranberries or other dried fruits, chopped
1 cup chopped pecans or other nuts
Add to the above and stir until blended:

Blend and form into a large ball. Allow to rest in refrigerator at least ½ hour before making into balls and roll in finely chopped nuts (pecans, almonds, etc).
Like many other people, my life is often organized chaos these days. As a mom to three small children, a wife, and a business owner, I have come to realize that my "To Do" list is never totally complete, it is very challenging to fit in any time for me, and that there is no such thing as "balance". What I try to do is make the most productive use of the time that I do have, and prioritize what needs to be accomplished when...sometimes with more success than at others.
Catharine, the psychotherapist and counsellor in our office, passed on this article to me and I found it directly relates to this. Check out the article entitled, “Thirteen things successful people do in the first 10 minutes of the work day”, from the Financial Post October 10, 2014. This article posts 13 practical tips from a survey of success stories in the world of work. Notice that taking time at the beginning of your day to be present, practice self-care, pause, and plan your day strategically can boost your productivity and wellness quotient!
